Culinary Support will provide a quality dining experience at all three meals of the day for residents in the Terrace and Courtyard of this Assisted Living Center.
Will also provide nutritional support for residents who may need additional small meals as well as snacks throughout the 24 hour day Pay Range:
$12-$15 /hour
Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, food preparation, cooking and serving, and cleaning Able to work safely with residents having reduced cognitive functioning.
Understanding of special considerations for persons having dementia Job functions and
Responsibilities:
1.
ALL MEALS:
a.
Prepare dining room for residents before the meal is served.
Some residents may assist with this process after assuring they have washed their hands.
b.
Clear and clean tables as residents finish eating c.
Clean the food preparation area as you go, and at the conclusion of the meal.
d.
Maintain standards of safety and sanitation.
e.
Make sure that any food or beverages that have been opened are properly sealed, labeled, dated, and stored in cabinets or refrigerator/freezer.
f.
(Note some residents will need small portions or items one at a time until the entire meal is consumed.
) g.
Some residents are able to determine which utensils to use for the meal, others may be limited in this understanding and will need to be provided with only the utensils required for the food items served.
h.
NEVER leave cooking equipment unattended if it is on or plugged in.
2.
BREAKFAST:
a.
Prepare and serve breakfast - made to order for residents as they come to the dining room in the Terrace or Courtyard.
b.
Make and butter toast as needed to assure freshness c.
Provide juice, water, milk, and choice of hot beverage:
coffee, tea, or hot chocolate 3.
DINNER:
a.
Transport meal items to the Terrace/Courtyard kitchen - including appropriate/ necessary condiments (monitor temperature of food items and maintain safe temps.
b.
Prepare and serve plates for residents as they arrive for the dinner meal.
c.
Offer seconds and beverages as you note residents completing their meal.
d.
Depending on resident ability, dessert may be served as residents complete meal or after all residents at a table have finished the meal.
4.
SUPPER:
In addition to the items noted in #3 DINNER:
a.
Sandwiches are to be prepared as residents come to the dining room.
Be sure to use appropriate condiments.
b.
Soup is to be dished up and served as residents come to the dining room.
5.
SNACKS:
a.
Culinary support may engage residents in preparing snacks such as peeled and sliced fruit, homemade and baked cookies or snack bars, sliced cheese and crackers, etc.
6.
OTHER:
The kitchen and dining area of the Terrace or Courtyard is to be cleaned and freshened after every meal.
This includes:
a.
wiping tables with sanitizer and allowing to air dry b.
pick up any food from the floor, sweep and damp mop c.
assuring all foods and beverages in the refrigerator are properly labeled, and that temperature is correctly recorded.
d.
Make sure all dry storage is clean and properly sealed and labeled.

Maintain professional standards of behavior.

Observe and practice safe food handling techniques throughout the performance of duties 3.
Communicate professionally, maturely and respectfully, and appropriately 4.
Compliance with the code of conduct included in the Employee Handbook #INDBR.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
