Job Description:
Grand Traverse Canvas Works, a family-owned business founded in 1982, creates a variety of custom marine, outdoor, and industrial canvas/fabric products in Northern Michigan.
We employ a small staff of hard-working, engaging, and supportive people, who enjoy working with their hands, and seeing projects through to completion.
Assistant Project Manager- Custom Canvas and Shade Solutions:
S/he will help design, pattern, cut, and install a wide variety of custom outdoor, and industrial canvas/fabric products with a focus on awnings, outdoor enclosures, and other shade solutions.
The assistant project manager will work with customers to create quotes and sales orders for custom projects.
Comfort using a wide variety of hand tools is necessary.
Good math skills, understanding of simple geometry and measuring, attention to detail, and creativity are important.
The work does have a physical component; the ideal candidate must be able to lift up to 50lbs, work indoors and outdoors for extended periods of time, and work safely and comfortably on a ladder.
We are seeking a candidate with the following skills and/or
Experience:
Strong time management and problem-solving skills The ability to work from customer specifications and visualize a finished product Comfort working with a team Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills Ability to follow directions A strong desire to learn about the products and services we sell and provide Willingness to travel regularly in a shop provided vehicle Experience with textiles and/or fabrication is a plus Exterior construction experience is a plus Training or experience in drafting, carpentry, or fabrication is required Job Requirements/Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent is the minimum education required, although post-secondary education or training is preferred.
This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday from 8 a.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
