Purpose
Under general supervision, a Customer Care Representative 1(CCR1) will support Chemical Bank's Mission and Vision Statements by providing high quality support to existing external customers, potential prospects, and internal customers via telephone and other electronic means. By utilizing support skills, the CCR 1 will assist management in meeting department goals by retaining existing customer accounts/relationships and making referrals to develop new customer relationships for the Bank. S/he will communicate an outgoing and friendly professional demeanor not only to customers but to staff as well. The CCR 1 is an entry-level job classification in the Customer Care job series.
Work Hours
Work hours vary between 7:
00 AM and 9:
00 PM and include a Saturday rotation. This position is full time with a minimum of 35 hours per week, depending on the needs of the branch/department. This position may be eligible for a shift premium based on the assigned work schedule. This position may require attendance at various bank/educational functions before, during, or after normal business hours.
Essential Job Functions
Will answer all inbound calls and be able to either direct or assist customer as needed.
Perceives and understands customer needs, concerns and or frustrations.
Actively makes referrals for Bank Products and Services to customers.
Resolves basic customer issues and handles customer inquiries accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner with appropriate urgency.
Meets team goals for basic convenience products determined by the Department Manager.
Will be able to recognize potential threats to customer, bank assets or information.
Essential Skills to Perform the Job
Must have proficient verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Candidate must learn and retain a working knowledge of products and services and be able to effectively offer basic products and services.
Strong multitasking and organizational skills
Strong math skills.
Strong computer skills including keyboarding speed, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
The ability to quickly learn and implement technology necessary for job functions.
Scope of Responsibility/ Decision Making
S/he should exercise common sense and good judgment in decision making and should understand the branch/department goals, standards, policies and procedures established by management and how their individual contribution leads to the success of the team.
A CCR 1 typically has limited decision making authority and should refer unusual situations to upper management.
Education/ Experience
Required - High school diploma or equivalency education.
Requires a minimum of 1 year of Customer Service experience; call center experience preferred. Additional education may be substituted for some experience.
